When Andre Franquin first created Marsupilami, he was a kind of parody on all animals of the comic kingdom, having special powers and unusual talents.    Marsupilami was clever, strong, resourcefull and most of all...cute!
The name Marsupial was inspired by the appearance and characteristics of a Marsupial, along with the words Pilou-Pilou and ami - ’friend’ in french.
Although the artist no longer creates the drawings, the appeal of Marsupilami character is so strong that today youngsters and adults are still avid fans of the fabulous animal, making it one of the best-known comic characters in Europe.
