Sundial Compass From Spain
The solar gnomon - the primitive apparatus used as a timekeeper by the Babylonians, Chinese, Egyptians and the Peruvians included a line thrown by the shadow cast by a rod placed in the ground. As the sun made it's journey the shadow changed it's length and position, thus marking time. That ancient principle is beautifully reproduced here in this small sundial compass. The instrument is intricately detailed and meticulously hand crafted in Spain and brings back images of seafaring journeys and treasured antiques. Made of wood with brass fittings, the case measures 2-3/4" x 2" x 7/8" deep. Imported directly from Spain.
